HAMILTON — Hamilton’s PWHL expansion team signed Brianne Jenner to a three-year contract Friday, making the veteran forward the first player in franchise history.
The Oakville, Ont., native joins Hamilton after captaining the Ottawa Charge through the league’s first three seasons and leading the club with 61 career points.
Jenner, 35, is the first player signed during the second phase of the PWHL’s expansion process, which allows Hamilton, Detroit, Las Vegas and San Jose to build their inaugural rosters.
The league expanded from eight to 12 teams this off-season.
Existing teams submitted lists of three protected players earlier this week.
The four expansion clubs can sign up to five players before Monday.
