Women’s Rugby World Cup final rematch between Canada and England set for Toronto

Written by on April 27, 2026

TORONTO — Canada will host England in a rematch of the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in Toronto this fall as part of the Rugby Rematch Tour.

The Oct. 16 match announced Monday by Rugby Canada will mark the national women’s team’s debut at Toronto’s BMO Field.

Canada hasn’t hosted a women’s rugby match in the Greater Toronto Area since a 2011 Nations Cup game against England in Oakville, Ont.

England defeated Canada 33-13 in the 2025 World Cup final last September in London’s Twickenham Stadium.

The announced contest is the first of two Rugby Rematch Tour games to be hosted in Canada, with details of the second date to be announced later.

The games will serve as a warm-up for the upcoming WXV Global Series, which runs from 2026-28 with matches in the September-October test window each year. Canada’s 2026 matches are in England against Australia, England and New Zealand.

Canada’s pre-tournament camp roster for the series, which will serve as a qualification path for the 2029 World Cup, will be announced in August.
