TORONTO — Toronto and the surrounding areas are getting a few more days of unusually warm weather in the middle of fall.
Temperatures hit 18.3 degrees on Monday and highs of 20 and 21 are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Environment Canada.
The Weather Network says Toronto hasn’t recorded any temperatures at or below freezing since May 3 this year.
The network says the first freezing temperature reading of the season is typically expected around Oct. 13.
It says a warm front pushed temperatures into the low 20s across southern Ontario last week with the mercury reaching above 22 degrees at Toronto Pearson airport on Thursday, breaking the previous daily record of 21.7 set in 1946.
The network had forecast that much of Canada can expect warmer-than-normal conditions this fall with a potentially historic El Nino expected to prolong the season and delay winter’s arrival.
