Toronto police officer charged with sexually assaulting girl: SIU

TORONTO — Toronto police say Chief Myron Demkiw is seeking the dismissal of an officer who was charged with sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16.
Ontario’s police watchdog has laid numerous charges against Const. Parsa Hazeri, including sexual assault, sexual interference, breach of trust and careless handling of a firearm.
The Special Investigations Unit says the alleged offences took place in Toronto between September and December last year.
A Toronto police spokesperson says 27-year-old Hazeri, who has three years of service, was suspended in January after the force became aware of a complaint against him and notified the SIU.
Police say the officer has now been served notice of suspension without pay.
He is out on bail on several conditions, including that he refrains from communicating with the girl he is accused of assaulting.
