Written by on June 4, 2025

TORONTO — Toronto police say they are looking for three suspects after a shooting in Toronto left one man dead and five others injured Tuesday evening.

Police say officers responded near Yorkdale Shopping Centre in North York minutes after 8:30 p.m.

They say three suspects approached a group of people and used firearms to shoot them before fleeing the area.

Police say all three suspects were carrying firearms, and they are described as males with slim to average builds, wearing dark clothing and face coverings.

A 31-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and he was pronounced dead in hospital.

A 19-year-old man, 25-year-old man, 18-year-old man, 30-year-old woman and 17-year-old youth were also shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries

Toronto police Chief Myron Demkiw said at a news conference on Wednesday afternoon that the investigation into the shooting “continues to evolve as we speak.”

“This kind of violence causes a lot of pain and anxiety in our communities,” he said.

“We will do everything we can to find those responsible for last night’s brazen violence in Lawrence Heights.”
