Rowe scores winner as AFC Toronto beats Vancouver Rise 3-1

BURNABY — Striker Lauren Rowe scored in the 63rd minute to snap a 1-1 deadlock and lifted the visiting AFC Toronto to a 3-1 Northern Super League victory over the Vancouver Rise on Sunday.

Toronto got on the board first at Swangard Stadium when Jessica Cowart scored an own goal in the 35th minute. Three minutes later, Anais Oularbi scored for Vancouver to tie the match at 1-1.

Kaylee Hunter scored in the second minute of second-half stoppage time to round out Toronto’s scoring.

Toronto outshot the hosts 12-7 (4-3 on-target), but Vancouver had possession for 58 per cent of the match.

Toronto had more corners (8-3), and Vancouver received two yellow cards.

With the win AFC Toronto moves into fourth in the six-team league with three wins, two losses and three draws. The Rise slip into fifth place with three wins, five losses and one draw.
