Remains found in Hamilton landfill as homicide investigators search for missing woman
Written by The Canadian Press on May 29, 2025
Police investigating the disappearance of a Hamilton woman say partial human remains have been found in their months-long search of a local landfill.
Police say they are now waiting on DNA results to confirm an identity.
Det. Sgt. Daryl Reid says police believe Shalini Singh was killed in her apartment and her body was removed through the building’s garbage system.
He says Singh was initially reported missing in December alongside her boyfriend, but he showed up at a family member’s house outside the city the next day and has allegedly refused to co-operate with the investigation.
Police say they obtained surveillance footage from the apartment building where the couple lived and there’s no video of Singh leaving after Dec. 4, the day her family last heard from her.
Police have been searching the Glanbrook landfill since late February and the partial remains were found last week.
