Toronto police say they will provide an update this morning on the death of an eight-year-old boy who was killed by a stray bullet while in bed last month.
JahVai Roy was struck by a bullet shot outside his North York neighbourhood apartment building just after midnight on Aug. 16 and was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The death of the boy reverberated through his community, spurring a candlelight vigil and a rally against gun violence at Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square.
Police have yet to release any suspect information or announce arrests made in the case.
Investigators released an image of a white Acura vehicle late last month requesting the public’s help to identify it.
Police are expected to provide their update at 11:30 a.m.
