OHL roundup: Edgar nets four points, paces IceDogs to 5-1 win over Wolves

SAINT CATHARINES — Ryerson Edgar scored three goals and added an assist in leading the Niagara IceDogs to a 5-1 win over the visiting Sudbury Wolves in Ontario Hockey League action on Sunday at the Meridian Centre.

Cole Cooksey and Sean Doherty also scored for the IceDogs, who outshot the visitors 37-32 and led 1-0 after the first period and 3-0 heading into the third.

Chase Coughlan scored for the Wolves, who went 1-for-5 on the power play. The IceDogs went 2-for-7 with the man advantage.

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Chase Reid scored a goal and added an assist as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds beat the visiting Sarnia Sting 5-2.

Travis Hayes, Tate Vader, Jakub Winkelhofer and Noah Laus also scored for the Greyhounds, who outshot the Sting 38-29.

Jack Van Volsen and Liam Beamish scored for the Sting, who trailed 3-0 after the first period.

The Sting went 1-for-5 on the power play, while the Greyhounds were 0-for-5.

OSHAWA, Ont. — Landon Wright’s power-play goal at 13:05 of the third period snapped a 2-2 tie and led the visiting Kingston Frontenacs to a 5-2 win over the Oshawa Generals.

Robin Kuzma scored 29 seconds later after Wright to give the Frontenacs some breathing room down the stretch.

Lukas Moore, Andrew Kuzma and Tomas Pobezal (empty-netter) also scored for the Frontenacs, who trailed 2-1 heading into the final period. Nolan Snyder chipped in with two assists.

Luke Posthumus and Rowen Sang scored for the Generals, who were outshot 32-27.
