More snow and strong winds expected in Newfoundland Friday and overnight

Written by on December 26, 2025

Newfoundlanders shouldn’t put away their shovels just yet, as another heavy snowfall is predicted for Friday evening following a white Christmas in much of the province.

Environment Canada has all of Newfoundland and much of Labrador under a winter storm warning, with the most hazardous conditions in the Cartwright and Baie Verte areas.

In Baie Verte, the weather service is expecting another heavy snowfall, with up to 60 centimetres falling Friday night and into Saturday.

Through much of the province, blizzard-like conditions are expected with strong winds and heavy snows.

Environment Canada is also warning of storms across the country, with freezing rain and snow causing messy conditions in southern Ontario.

Freezing rain, snow, and heavy fog are also expected in much of southern Saskatchewan and over the boundary into Manitoba, with Environment Canada warning of near-zero visibility in some areas.
