Man taken to hospital after being shot by police in Brampton, Ont.

Peel Region police say a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was shot by police Wednesday morning.

Police say they were called to the area of Malta Avenue and Ray Lawson Boulevard in Brampton, Ont., just before 10 a.m.

They say a man was shot by police and taken to hospital in serious condition.

Police say no officers were injured in the shooting, and the incident has been contained with no threat to the area.

No further details were immediately provided about the shooting.

There’s a large police presence at the scene and officers are asking people to avoid the area.
