Fifth suspect arrested, two at large in years-old homicide investigation: OPP

Written by on April 1, 2026

Provincial police say a fifth suspect has been arrested and two others are still at large in a homicide and attempted murder investigation north of Toronto dating back to 2020.

The Caledon detachment of the OPP says it arrested a 45-year-old Ottawa man on first-degree murder and other charges and has issued Canada-wide warrants for two men from London, Ont.

Police allege the three men were involved in an attempted murder in 2020 and another shooting in 2021, during which the victim from the 2020 incident was injured and another person, 65-year-old Giovanni Costa, was killed.

Police say the 2020 shooting took place at a business in Vaughan, while the 2021 incident saw shots fired in a residence in Bolton.

Police say the two wanted suspects are known to frequent London and the Greater Toronto Area and they face charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Police say the province is offering a $50,000 reward for information in the case as the investigation continues.
