Advocates are calling for Quebec politicians to reform voting rules that they say make it difficult for homeless people to cast their ballots.

Scarlett Martinez is a community organizer in Quebec who says there are barriers for many unhoused people to vote since many cannot provide proof of a fixed address at the polling stations.
Elections Canada has long allowed polling stations to be set up inside community organizations like shelters and soup kitchens.
Quebec’s electoral authority asked the provincial legislature to approve a pilot project to make voting more accessible.
But the Parti Québécois objected to the plan last fall, warning that it could lead to electoral fraud.
