Boy fatally struck by GO train in Mississauga, Ont.: police

Written by on March 18, 2026

MISSISSAUGA — Police in Peel Region say a young boy was fatally struck by a GO train west of Toronto on Wednesday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 3 p.m. at a train crossing near Alexandra Avenue and Fourth Street in Mississauga, Ont., and the incident halted train service in the area.

Const. Tyler Bell-Morena told reporters at the scene that a boy about 12 or 13 years of age was struck by a westbound train and pronounced dead.

He says the boy was with another young child and appeared to have been riding around in the area on some sort of motorized bike at the time.

Bell-Morena says the initial investigation suggests that all traffic signals were functioning at the time, and the train crossing arms were down with the lights flashing.

He says it appears that the child went around the barrier before he was struck.
