Shelter-in-place order lifted in Deep River, Ont., after stabbing

DEEP RIVER — A shelter-in-place order issued after a stabbing in a town northwest of Petawawa, Ont., was lifted Thursday afternoon.
Police say officers responded to the area of McElligott Drive in Deep River, where a victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon.
Officers issued a notice urging residents to stay indoors with all doors and windows locked as the search for a suspect continued.
Officials said Thursday morning that the town’s facilities and a school were closed, students in another school were kept indoors all day and school buses were cancelled.
In an afternoon update, police said the shelter-in-place order has been lifted, but they didn’t say whether a suspect was taken into custody.
Police say they will have an increased presence in the area as the investigation continues.
Investigators are asking residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately.
