DEEP RIVER — Residents in a town northwest of Petawawa, Ont., have been asked to shelter in place as police look for a suspect in a reported stabbing.
Police in Deep River, Ont., issued the notice on Wednesday, urging residents to stay indoors with all doors and windows locked. They say it is still in effect today.
Provincial police are also involved in the investigation.
Officials say all town facilities are closed until further notice and waste collection will be postponed until the shelter-in-place order is lifted.
The Renfrew County District School Board says Mackenzie Community School is closed to students and staff today, and school buses are cancelled.
St. Anthony’s Catholic School in nearby Chalk River, Ont., says bus service has been cancelled but the school is open, and students will remain inside all day as a precaution.
