Six arrested after 260 kilograms of cocaine seized: York Region police

Written by on July 6, 2026

Police north of Toronto say they have charged six suspects in a drug trafficking investigation and seized hundreds of kilograms of cocaine and millions of dollars in cash.

York Region police say the investigation dubbed Project Golden Frog began in May after Canada Border Services Agency intercepted a shipment from Panama that contained a large quantity of suspected cocaine.

Police say the shipment was linked to a suspect who has ties to Kitchener, Ont., and investigators searched several homes, storage lockers and a business in the city last month.

Investigators say they also seized 260 kilograms of cocaine and proceeds of crime including $2.5 million in cash.

The interception was part of an investigation into drug trafficking in the York Region and other parts of the Greater Toronto Area.

Six suspects from Kitchener were arrested and charged with various offences, including possession for the purpose of trafficking.

York Region police Deputy Chief Ryan Hogan praised the joint effort by the CBSA and police.

“Through this collaborative investigation, a significant quantity of illegal drugs was prevented from reaching our streets. This seizure represents an important step in keeping our communities safe,” he said in news release.

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to come forward.
