Written by on May 25, 2026

MARKHAM — Police in York Region are warning the public after another coyote attack in Markham, Ont., on Sunday.

Police say a coyote bit a child in a park in the area of Roy Rainey and Bur Oak avenues around 7:30 p.m.

They say the child is about five years old and was taken to hospital.

Police say residents should be cautious in parks in the area of McCowan Road and 16th Avenue in Markham.

They said last week that a coyote bit a 16-year-old girl in the area of Mingay and Bur Oak avenues and she was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say people should remain alert, keep a safe distance from any wildlife and should not approach or attempt to feed a coyote.
