Police say a shelter-in-place order has been lifted in a northern Ontario community after one suspect was found dead and the second one was arrested Thursday evening.
Ontario Provincial Police say officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Don Park in Atikokan, Ont., Wednesday shortly after 7 p.m. and they located one person dead after arrival.
The OPP says a shelter-in-place was put into effect for the area as the search continued for two masked suspects who were believed to be armed and dangerous.
Investigators say the first suspect was located deceased Thursday at around 9:30 p.m., and the second one was taken into custody without any incident shortly after.
Police say they will have an increased presence in the area as the investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to come forward.
