Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after police shot and killed a suspect in Kincardine on Saturday.
Police say members of the South Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police attempted to arrest the person at approximately 5:50 p.m.
Police say the person was located at a residence by a police emergency response team and a canine unit.
They say police discharged their firearm during the interaction and the individual was pronounced dead.
Police say the suspect had been involved in several incidents earlier in the day across South Bruce and Huron County.
The province’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate, as it is required to do in incidents with police that result in serious injuries, death, allegations of sexual assault or an officer discharging their firearm at a person.
