TORONTO — Toronto police say a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run in the city’s midtown has turned himself in as investigators continue to search for a second vehicle involved in the incident.
Police say they were called to the scene near Eglinton and Dunfield avenues just after 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.
They say a 70-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while she was crossing the street, then struck by a second vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
Police say the woman later died from her injuries.
Investigators allege two suspect vehicles fled the scene, and one suspect — a 48-year-old man from Toronto — turned himself into police later that morning.
He’s been charged with dangerous operation causing death and leaving the scene of an accident causing death, with a court appearance scheduled for Thursday.
Police did not say which vehicle the suspect is alleged to have driven.
