Provincial police say a man is facing an upgraded murder charge and an additional charge of first-degree murder in the deaths of two people in southwestern Ontario last month.
Police say the morning of Oct. 5, they were called to a home in Simcoe where officers found 71-year-old Barbara Morgan dead.
Police arrested a 45-year-old man on a second-degree murder charge in her death and later confirmed the suspect was her son.
OPP say on Oct. 16, officers found remains in a wooded area off Highway 6 and later confirmed they belonged to 49-year-old Robert Sykes, who had died by homicide.
They say the suspect has now been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, with the previous second-degree murder charge being upgraded.
Police say the accused was scheduled to appear in a Simcoe court on Friday.
