Winter storm descends on Ontario with up to 60 cm of snow possible in some areas
Written by The Canadian Press on November 27, 2025
A major Ontario winter storm has knocked out power and shut down roads as parts of the province brace for up to 60 centimetres of snow.
Hydro One says local road conditions are delaying some of its restoration efforts as it reports several thousand customers are without power.
A winter storm warning is in place for a stretch of the province from Wawa to Timmins, and as far north as Moosonee, as Environment Canada calls for up to 60 centimetres of snow.
Major snowfall has already blanketed the region and shut down highways 655 and 631.
Further south, the weather office says the heaviest snow will begin tonight and could continue through Saturday with up to 50 centimetres possible around Barrie, and even more south of Owen Sound.
Toronto is expected to be mostly spared but the forecast says Hamilton and the outskirts of the Greater Toronto Area, from Milton to Oshawa, could see between five and 15 centimetres and strong winds.
