TORONTO — Toronto police are investigating after a transit worker was allegedly stabbed at a downtown subway station Wednesday afternoon.
Police say they responded to a report of a stabbing at Dundas Station just after 1 p.m., and officers found a person with stab wounds.
Police say they arrested a male suspect at the scene, and both he and the alleged victim were taken to hospital with injuries.
Toronto Transit Commission CEO Mandeep S. Lali confirmed there was a “violent attack” on a TTC employee at the station Wednesday.
Lali called the incident an “unacceptable act” and said earlier in the day, police and city officials had announced plans to deploy more officers on the TTC.
Police say they will have a large police presence in the area as officers investigate.
