More Montreal transit staff to strike, but walkout not expected to disrupt service
Written by The Canadian Press on November 8, 2025
Another union at Montreal’s transit network announced a one-day strike this month, but this one isn’t expected to disrupt service.
A strike is already underway at the transit authority, with buses and metros only available during rush hours and late evenings.
Unless a deal is reached the strike involving the network’s maintenance workers could last until the end of November.
On Friday, the union representing administrative staff at the network announced its roughly 1,300 members will also strike on Nov. 19.
Union president Stéphane Lamont says it comes following 17 months of attempting to negotiate with their employer.
The transit authority confirmed it received notice of the strike, adding mediation is now underway with the union.
