Written by on September 19, 2025

KINGSTON — A 15-year-old from Hamilton has been arrested after allegedly making hate-motivated threats toward a religious institution in Kingston, Ont.

Kingston police say officers were notified of threatening remarks that had been made over an instant messaging platform, including toward a “specific religious institution” in the city on Sept. 12.

Police say the investigation, which included officers from the RCMP and Ontario Provincial Police, led officers to Hamilton where local police arrested the youth on Tuesday.

Police say the suspect has been charged with one count of uttering hate-motivated threats toward a Kingston religious institution, and one count of uttering threats toward a high school in Hamilton.

Const. Anthony Colangeli declined to specify what type of religious institution was targeted, but says members of the targeted congregation have been notified.

Police say there is no further threat in either city and the suspect was remanded into custody after a bail hearing in Kingston.
