Pedestrian dead after being hit by vehicle in downtown Toronto

TORONTO — Toronto police say a man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in the city’s downtown area overnight.

Police say they received reports of a crash at around 12:30 a.m. in the area of Sherbourne and Shuter Streets.

They say the pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead on scene, but have yet to release more information about the victim.

Police say the driver of the vehicle remained on scene.

Roads near the crash site were closed overnight and reopened at around 6:15 a.m.

Officers who have not released additional details of the crash are to provide an update this morning.
