NC Aurora Armoury 89 Mosley Street, Aurora
10:30 am Doors Open 11:00 am Concert
Mimi O’Bonsawin presents a joyful family show perfect for ages 5+! Mimi enchanted our audience during the Centre’s 2023 Family Day showcase, with many calls to have her back on stage for her family show. We’re happy to deliver!
An award-winning contemporary roots singer-songwriter from Northeastern Ontario, Mimi embraces the beauty of the land, all the while yielding to her Franco-Ontarian and Abenaki roots. The ethereal quality of her music whisks you away with uplifting melodies and introspective lyrics that weave pop sensibilities with acoustic instruments. The layers of percussion and surprising harmonies make you feel the music rather than just hear it.
Her duo stage performance is honest and dynamic with her touring partner Ryan Schurman on drums, making it an intimate yet uplifting experience for the audience. Her discography includes Willow (2023), Fiddleheads & Ferns (2022), and Elle Danse (2022).
When not creating or recording music, Mimi shares her passion for songwriting and art through workshops with youth in schools across Canada. “Music is a powerful healer,” says Mimi. “Songs and art are great tools to empower our youth and to provide an outlet. No matter the intention, I believe that everyone can and should write a song.”

Eleanor McCain presents an evening filled with the celebration of Celtic music with her dazzling vocals, beloved ballads, and time-honored songs. A multiple award-nominated artist, she has recorded six critically acclaimed albums and appeared with orchestras across Canada. In 2017, McCain released True North: The Canadian Songbook—32 iconic songs reimagined by 14 Canadian arrangers, recorded with 10 Canadian orchestras, and featuring guest appearances by 28 celebrated Canadian artists.
Hailing from New Brunswick, Canada, this multiple East Coast Music Award-nominated classical crossover artist has recorded six albums, toured with noted JUNO-nominated jazz singer Matt Dusk, and appeared with orchestras across Canada. She’s also had the honor of collaborating with artists such as Roch Voisine, Natalie MacMaster, Jens Lindemann, Jan Lisiecki, Liona Boyd, John McDermott, Chantal Kreviazuk, the Elmer Iseler Singers, and Carlos Nunez, among others
The North Atlantic Drift is the water current that runs between the East coast of Canada and the West coast of Europe and Ireland. The opening set of North Atlantic Drift reflects this, following a centuries-long tradition of the trading of music and musical styles between Ireland, Scotland, and the East Coast of Canada. Brian Taheny from Sligo, Ireland, Dan MacDonald from Cape Breton Island, and Ross Griffiths from the Ontario piping tradition form this particular trading triangle and the product is a multi-instrumental, multi-styled Celtic sound that is truly Canadian in its diversity.
